We overestimate our own smarts - most people think they're smarter than average (impossible, but that's ego for you) 2. We underestimate how liked we are - aka "the liking gap", meaning you almost always think people liked you less than they actually did Put those together and you get: "I'm clearly smart... but I don't even know if they like me." That tension makes you pull back and stop sharing, or asking questions and just freeze up... Which Vanessa argues is the ACTUAL thing that makes you less likable. She calls it the 'awkwardness loop': you feel unliked, then you get in your head, rhwn you freeze and finally, you confirm the fear. You're not bad at conversation. For me it’s not about money or success I lost my intellectually challenged Uncle Father and Mother within a 11 months. It was so crushing. My mother was my best friend and there is no one I trust more than both of them.Now 2 years later I just don’t feel loved. By anyone my other half, children and friends.
