The reason I’ve been way less active on here recently… Flynn came up with very mild lameness 3 weeks ago and after the first vet told me there was nothing major going on I followed my gut and pursued further tests just in case as Flynn has never in her life been lame for more that a day. X-ray revealed a minor splint bone fracture (I challenge you to spot it in the photo) that will need at least 4 weeks of box rest, or for Flynn a small paddock under the vets guidance as she hates being in. Then due to the lack of movement her bones will be softer so she’ll be very susceptible to injury in the following 2 months. So although she’ll be sound for the Royal International and for the National Championships in September I simply will not put my horses long term health and happiness at risk for the sake of a couple of shows. It hurts me a lot to have to make this decision as those who know me will know how long and hard I’ve worked to make my qualifying dreams a reality and how much it means to me to have succeeded with a horse everyone told me isn’t good enough. When her number arrived with her name on the back i honestly sobbed. It’s not over though, I’ve booked a follow up X-ray in 4 weeks time to be 100% certain that shes healing as she should before I start the rehab work with her. She’s getting it iced every day twice a day as well as an added bone supplement to her feed to ensure her body has all the vitamins and minerals it needs to heal properly. The vets are confident that if she heals without reinjury she’ll be back to normal after rehab. I love this mare with my whole heart and all I can hope for now is a clean X-ray at the start of August and a smooth rehab before next years season. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 . . . #equestriantiktok #horseinjury #horseinjuries #horsetok #horseriding #workingshowhorse
