@thescenenm: A total of 2,977 victims were killed that day, including 2,753 in New York, 184 at the Pentagon and 40 aboard Flight 93 near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Among those lost were 343 FDNY firefighters, 37 Port Authority Police officers and 23 NYPD officers. Today, we remember the innocent lives taken, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families forever changed and those who continue to live with the lasting effects of the attacks and their aftermath.
