I'm really hating this banning of songs. The fact that a thanksgiving song must have mention of the holy communion to be sang is concerning. I mean, we have a lot of things to thank God for, and not just receiving the holy communion. Throughout the week we've witnessed God's blessings in various ways, so we want to thank God for them; life, health, jobs, etc. So if you tell me we shouldn't sing a thanksgiving song because it has no mention of the holy communion, then I don't get it. The number of thanksgiving songs we sing has greatly reduced and we find ourselves having to repeat the sames songs after a short cycle. Still don't understand how 'Ulimwengu' replaced 'dunia' in Utukufu yet in some contexts we still use 'dunia'. Let those who are banning these songs compose the songs with the lyrics they deem appropriate or perfect for the liturgy so we can sing them, or let the composers freely do their work; I think they have enough knowledge of the catholic faith enough for them to compose/write songs. My recommendation would be a conversation of stakeholders; liturgical leaders, songwriters/composers and men of the cloth. No offense though.
