@realjossaustin: 🇿🇦 My top 3 e commerce lessons for South African beginners: 1. Being “behind” is actually an advantage. SA often adopts ecommerce trends later than the US and Europe. That means you can study what’s already working internationally and bring proven products, offers and strategies here before the market becomes saturated. You don’t need to predict the future. You can watch it happen somewhere else first. 2. Attention is cheaper here. CPMs in South Africa can be considerably lower than larger, more competitive markets. Your advertising budget can therefore buy significantly more attention. But cheap traffic means nothing without a strong product, offer and store that converts. 3. Don’t copy. Localise. Something working in America doesn’t automatically work here. SA consumers have different price sensitivity, trust barriers, payment preferences and delivery expectations. Study what works globally, then position it specifically for South Africans. The SA opportunity isn’t being first in the world. It’s being first here. 🇿🇦
