@hymelskajunkitchen: This week using @Ralph’s Market sales ad we made a delicious easy chicken and sausage fricassee. This is one of those old recipes that just brings ya back. Baw Dat Good Yeah!! #EasyRecipe #chicken #sausage #cajun #fricassee
Honest question. What makes this different from a gumbo, besides the liquid amount?

Do you ever throw some boiled eggs in your fricassée? I do it and it’s so good that way. Try it out. Also, I learned a lil different style from one of my friends, hit it with a lil liquid smoke for a Smokey style fricassée or just put the chicken in a smoker and skip the liquid smoke if you got the time. I know some folks throw some mushrooms in too which is also delicious (this is the later French influence that came in the 1800’s with later French immigrants that married into some families in South Louisiana). Fricassée is the oldest food dish we have in Louisiana. It dates back to the Middle Ages in France. It’s the OG of Louisiana food, even more OG than gumbo.
