The Hanged Man Reversed is about taking a pause to figure out if we’re ACTUALLY ready to make a decision or ACTUALLY on track—and then sitting, and sitting, and sitting there so we don’t have to ACTUALLY move or make a decision. It’s about using introspection as an excuse for inaction, being frozen in place because we don’t trust ourselves, and perhaps especially, letting our anxiety keep us cemented in place under the guise of “looking inward” and “evaluating options” and “doing our due diligence.” The truth is that the “perfect” moment to move, change or make a choice, where all our questions are answered, there’s no ambiguity and all risk has been avoided simply doesn’t exist. We have to move and decide anyway—no matter what our fears or anxieties say. As the great Dolly Parton once said, “Get down off the cross, honey, somebody needs the wood,” and while she was talking about self-pity, it’s just as applicable to the times we’re hesitating, procrastinating or hemming and hawing because we’re afraid to make a choice.
