La mia domenica keto: Parmigiana di zucchine con formaggio fuso filante….Buon appetito 😍
On May 28, 2014, Robin Williams walked out of a neurology appointment with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. He looked at the paperwork in his hands, but deep down, he felt that the answer was still incomplete. He asked his doctor, "Do I have Alzheimer's? Is it dementia or schizophrenia?" At the time, the medical team did not have enough evidence to give him a clear yes. The full name of the illness that was quietly taking over almost every region of his brain remained hidden in the shadows. In the months leading up to that day, his wife, Susan Schneider Williams, watched a strange storm gather over their lives. The symptoms did not seem to fit into any single textbook category. Robin was struggling with intense anxiety, sudden bouts of paranoia, sleepless nights, digestive issues, and a loss of his sense of smell. A faint, intermittent tremor appeared in his left hand. For a man whose legendary career relied on an extraordinary memory and lightning-fast mental speed, the most terrifying changes were happening inside his mind. While filming Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, the brilliant comedian found himself unable to remember lines that used to come effortlessly. He was frustrated and frightened, yet he kept fighting back. He continued exercising, attending therapy, and trying every recommended method to keep control over his mind and body. Tragically, Robin Williams passed away on August 11, 2014, at the age of 63. He died by sulcide at his home in Paradise Cay. Toxicology tests showed no alcohol or illegal dr@gs in his system, only prescribed medications taken at normal therapeutic levels. The loss shocked the entire world, but the underlying drive behind his tragic death remained misunderstood for months. Driven by the unyielding, invisible deterioration of his brain, he was fighting severe terror, confusion, and paranoia caused by the rapid decline of his nervous system. It was only three months later, when the neuropathology autopsy report was completed, that the true cause of his agony was finally revealed. Robin had been living with a severe, diffuse case of Lewy body dementia. Lewy bodies are abnormal clumps of a protein called alpha-synuclein that build up inside nerve cells. Depending on how the disease spreads, it causes movement difficulties similar to Parkinson's, along with severe cognitive fluctuations, hallucinations, anxiety, and sudden shifts in clarity. Over the following year, Susan met with brain specialists to review her husband's medical records, brain scans, and autopsy reports. Every single doctor shared the exact same shocking reaction. They told her that it was one of the most devastating cases of Lewy body disease they had ever witnessed. Dr. Bruce Miller, a neurologist at the University of California, San Francisco, noted that almost no region of Robin's brain had been left untouched. Looking at the sheer extent of the damage, he expressed pure amazement that Robin had still been able to walk, talk, and move at all during those final months. In 2016, Susan shared their story in a powerful article for the medical journal Neurology. She highlighted the most heartbreaking truth of all: Robin knew that something fundamental inside him was breaking, but he died never knowing the name of the enemy he was fighting. Even though his earthly body was overwhelmed by a physical storm, the essence of who he was remained unconquered. His brilliant spirit, which brought so much light, comfort, and joy to millions of souls around the globe, was tar greater than any neurological illness. The body may grow fragile and fail, but the love, laughter, and light a person leaves behind belong to eternity, where no disease can ever touch them.
