I work in a restaurant and I always give the bill on its own because people can either pay cash or card and I let them go over the bill while I grab the card machine so everything is correct

Literally done this in Spain. Asked for the bill and 20 minutes later the waiters are just hanging around chatting.

ive actually done that we asked 3 times, never came so we left. Cost them about £50 and it wasn't even that busy they just couldn't be arsed

Guest needs to indicate they are ready by simply placing card or phone on top of the bill to indicate “bring card machine”
