If he does have kidney failure there is another type of dialysis that doesn’t use needles, hopefully he never needs it but most people don’t know about it, it’s called peritoneal dialysis. You are doing an amazing job of taking care of your friend :)

Have him try dandelion tea it supports the kidneys… if the tea doesn’t pass the test.. you can get supplements for dandelion and milk thistle .. both help support liver and kidneys

Elete unflavored electrolytes are great. They can be added to anything. Just do not get the citrus flavor. They are way better than Pedialyte.

Big thing with the sugary stuff (all sugar is sugar as far as your pancreas is concerned) and diabetes is to pair it with protein to try to minimize the spiking and fast decline of glucose. If he would eat like peanut butter or string cheese, even little slices of meat with the fruit/high sugar items it would be better. (Or maybe he’s eating all that as a whole meal and it’s fine, in which case disregard). Not trying to add to your list btw, I know you’re doing everything you can.

Has he seen an urologists? my 86 year old neighbor was also fighting uti's. Urgent care, errands nothing helped until the urologist cut away old dead skin the was blocking the hole.

Also, lunch meats are not good for his proteins because of the nitrates. I recommend making an actual turkey and chop it up. It’s better for his sugars. ❤️
