@hanwithlovee: 5 things I wish I knew before going into engineering 👇 1. Skip classes with bad profs. If there are different sections, attend the one with a prof you like. Losing 5% of your grade for participation is better than failing a class because your prof sucks. 2. Don’t spend days nitpicking an assignment worth 5% of your grade, only to cram the night before for a midterm worth 50%. Learning what and when to make sacrificices for your overall benefit is a critical skill even going into corporate. Your time is precious. 3. Study with other people, especially people smarter than you. Engineering is a team effort and collaborative by nature. You’ll learn just as much from your classmates as you will from your profs. 4. Take first year to focus on your classes. Building that base knowledge and learning how to learn will carry you for the rest of your degree. There are also plenty of more fruitful opportunities once you’re in second year and above. The clubs and jobs will still be there. 5. Join an affinity group. Some engineering disciplines are extremely male-dominated, and it can be hard to get through without support from other women to relate to. I joined Women in Computer Science (my minor was in CS), and it was one of the best things I did! #engineering #school #advice #womeninstem
