The historian Muslim Khaldun compared the #arab bedouin Banu hilal arrival to a "swarm of locusts" stating they destroyed everything in their path and plunged the region into decades of #chaos . #Amazigh resistance was violently broken, leaving entire areas depopulated as the indigenous population was enslaved, displaced or forced into the mountains.
