@nobodywarnedmom: Gut check: are your intentions for signing up to volunteer to help for your kid’s extracurriculars always pure? This is a judgement-free zone. Let’s chat about it! 👇🏻 #youthsports #competitive #volunteers #MomsofTikTok
As the woman who has been a team Mom for the better part of 10 years, I need you to just sign the hell up. Bring the damn snack, or the drinks or whatever. I don’t care about your kids playing time. Sign up and help out. I’m tired of being the only one who gives a crap about the kids.

No lol I’d much rather take my chair and sit in the outfield like usual, but if they need help, they need help I guess 😅

Nope my kids play sports because they want to. I'm showing up for mine in whatever capacity no matter what because I want to support them and their team and the coaches. because sports teach our kids essential life lessons they will carry throughout their whole life. and im grateful for that, it's a bonus they get to do something they love. im just a proud mama and im allowed to be that!

I am in charge of our Volunteer sign ups for our towns Jr Tackle club. Its the same parents signing up over and over because if they didn't we wouldn't be able to play games. I send out reminders every week to get new parents and they just don't sign up 🤷🏻♀️

I sign up bc everyone should be volunteering 🤷🏻♀️I wait and see if anyone else is gonna do it and then give in. I’m a reluctant signer upper. I don’t care how my kids performance reflects on me- that’s weird.

I sign up more to help the other parents. I’ve been part of volunteer committees that didn’t have to do with school and it was the same people doing things over and over again. I can’t sign up for everything and I know other people can’t either. I sign up to spread out the work if everyone does just a little, it helps a lot.

If you aren’t willing to support your kids team and volunteer, it’s a parent problem. Shouldn’t be signing up to volunteer if you have any ulterior motives that it may help your kid in some way. It shouldn’t be for any other reason than supporting the team and your child.

My kid is a forever back up on teams and I still sign up to help when I can because these programs always need help. The more the parents help the coach, the more than can focus on coaching. My husband also coached for many years and usually when parents had irrational complaints the easiest thing to do was sit my daughter for an inning or two. She never got any special treatment for having a dad coach. But I am sure many parents do whatever they think helps their kids playing time

Yes it’s called late stage capitalism. There is no safety net so the only hedge against poverty, unemployment, no health insurance is achievement

The worst part is when I do all the crap and my kid still doesn’t get picked. It’s not worth squat. The leads parents never do anything.

30 years ago we had one mom on our volleyball team who shamelessly sucked up to the coach and then spoke terribly about him in private. She always offered to carry the ball bag which we always affectionately referred to as “carrying his balls”

I could give a sh*t about youth sports. If my kid wants to play, then we sign up: Facts is, 99% of kids playing will not go D1 nor Pro. I sign up because it’s takes a community to put on these sports. Any parent that makes the sport about themselves (the parent) well that’s a big problem. Parents unfortunately are a real big issue in sports today. Signed a woman with grown kids in college.
