I saw someone on TikTok say the way that we combat these high grocery prices is to stop buying where all the prices are high. Where do we go? We need food.

I’m not. My credit card is past due. I’m overdrafting my account monthly and living paycheck to paycheck. My kids and pets are fed but I’ll eat maybe once a day.

BS. Watch Caleb Hammer on YouTube and you’ll see everyone there have no idea what their debt is, how to save, how to not waste money. So many do the expensive car payment, vacations, getting food- sometimes delivered more than a dozen times a week. That’s the majority, if you can’t deal with self-restraint monetarily you can’t complain

I make over 100k, had to take a 50k paycut to keep my job, have 34k in credit card debt. I dont go on vacation, I don't eat out, After fixed bills I have to put food, medicine, toiletries, medical, everything else on the credit cards. If i cant find 25k a year more soon im about to say fuck it and default on those cards.

I limit my outings, shop at the thrift stores when I need something and I work overtime when I can. I rarely buy gifts for anyone, I honestly don’t know how I’m surviving sometimes.

Middle class used to be able to afford a new car every 6-8 years, vacations, home upgrades, date night every week…. Then 2020 hit and everything changed. I make more money than I ever have, and I’m the most broke I’ve ever been.

What gets me is that almost everything we create is ultimately meant to serve people, yet so much of it never reaches the people who actually need it. Food expires while people are hungry. Houses sit empty while people need homes. Clothes, products, and materials sit unused or get thrown away. We create abundance, but access to that abundance is filtered through price, ownership, and purchasing power. Someone can desperately need something and still be unable to reach it, while someone with more money can turn even a want into immediate access. Maybe the deeper problem is not simply that we buy too much. Maybe our system has become better at producing and replenishing abundance than making sure that abundance actually serves human life.

And my mom wonders why I had a breakdown a couple days ago when my check was utter shit. Yeah she always helps, we live together still, but I always figured that as an adult I would have already moved out by now and be following my dreams. Well that was ruined the day after I graduated. Now all I do is work and sleep. I don't eat many full meals anymore. I'm lucky enough to find the time to draw or write, or have the energy for that matter.

I make 97k , one paycheck covers my LA rent, the other paycheck covers bills and I used to have about 200 left over for fun things. Things have gotten so expensive that I’ve taken on a side gig and still have to use a credit card sometimes to put gas in my car. This is so stupid.

My FYP is all videos of people venting about struggling, myself included. My question is why are we as a collective not doing anything about it? If we are all struggling why are we being complicit with what’s going on and not protesting? Instead of being united through social media we are just venting and collectively going about day to day as if nothing is happening.

Boomer logic. I was called lazy numerous times by my step father while maintaining and working 3 jobs cuz I couldnt afford taking care of myself while living with him and my mom. For a 4-5 months after me and my gf split.
