If you plan to pay your respects to any 9/11 memorial tomorrow, let it be the Breezy Point 9/11 memorial. Along the main road through Breezy sits this remarkable memorial, dedicated not only to the first responders, but to the 29 Breezy residents who lost their lives. It faces Jamaica bay, Coney Island, and has a direct view of One World Trade Center. As you enter, you are greeted with a statue of Jesus, holding the Twin Towers in his arms. As you head up the board walk, there is art work and a memorial flag with signatures of family of those lost from Breezy. Waiting at the top are glass panels that hold a marker for each person lost, as well as benches to reflect on that horrific Tuesday morning. Two of the core beams from tower 1 are welded together making the cross that stands at the end of the boardwalk. Breezy Point received this amazing piece because per capeta, Breezy lost more residents than any other community in New York City. For such a small community, this was a significant loss. This memorial marks all 29 of the thousands lost on that day, and a constant reminder that we will never forget them. Every single person lost had value, and will be cherished by all who come. Every person who walks this Earth has value, and every 9/11 is a reminder to pray for peace and unity around the world. Let us all be united tomorrow with grief and with cherished memories shared by the victim’s families. To anyone who has lost a beloved friend or family member during 9/11, my prayers are with you. God bless you, God Bless the city of New York, and God Bless America.🇺🇸#worldtradecenter #911 #nyc #fyppp #longisland
