WHAT I SEE, I SEE A LINCOLN. PRRD is indeed becoming one of the person he admired the most. When I look at these two photographs, I see two men from different eras, different countries, and completely different circumstances. Yet there are similarities worth reflecting on. Abraham Lincoln and Rodrigo Duterte both became leaders during periods of deep division in their respective countries. Both spoke directly to ordinary people. Both built strong connections with the masses. Both were known for a direct and unconventional style of leadership. Both stood firmly behind what they believed was necessary for their country, even when their decisions were heavily criticized. Both inspired extraordinary loyalty among their supporters. Both became deeply polarizing figures, loved by many and strongly opposed by others. Both faced tremendous pressure while carrying the responsibility of leading a nation. And both left behind legacies that continue to shape political discussions long after their time in office. Lincoln fought to preserve the Union during America's greatest internal crisis and became forever associated with the struggle over freedom and national unity. Duterte led the Philippines through a very different era, focusing heavily on peace and order, the fight against illegal drugs, infrastructure development, and his vision of a more independent Philippines. Their histories are not the same. Their battles were not the same. Their countries were not the same. But perhaps that is exactly why this comparison is worth thinking about. Different centuries. Different nations. Different challenges. Yet both understood one powerful truth: A leader must have the courage to stand for what he believes is right for his country, even when the road becomes difficult. Great leaders are not always understood by everyone. Great leaders are often controversial. But history remembers those who dared to make difficult decisions when their nations needed direction. Lincoln had his America. Duterte had his Philippines. And whether history ultimately praises or criticizes them, their names have already become part of their nations' political history. Because leadership is temporary. But legacy can outlive a lifetime. Long Live PRRD!
