I used to scrub on a pediatric heart surgery team at a big academic center. I was known as the “girl with a fat ass and lashes”. Not my name, talents, knowledge, none of that. I wore ugly blue surgical scrubs and my hair was covered by a scrub cap. I was helping transplant hearts into children and was still sexualized. Will never forget how it felt.

i remember seeing a tweet about how they were gonna change woman’s uniforms and avoid specific camera angles to avoid sexualizing and then the quote tweets were ppl saying the camera angles and uniforms were the only reason they watch woman’s sports . . . so yeah..

Girl I know how you feel. I work in medicine & wear scrubs but I still have to be cautious of what I wear and how it will be perceived by patients. I went to a clinic earlier this week to pass out resumes and introduce myself. I was wearing dress pants and a blouse and a 60 year old man from the waiting room still followed me out of the clinic to try to give me his number on a wet receipt. I used to not really understand the Sydney hate but this ad is an example of why some men think women are just pawns for their enjoyment.
