I've tried to talk myself into a middle version, some scenario where it ends and I'm just sad for a while and then fine, the normal way people are supposed to move through these things. I can't actually picture that version happening to me. — Why not. — Because I don't think I'm handing over a normal amount this time. I think I've handed over more than I usually let myself, more than feels safe in hindsight, and I did it anyway because it felt right in the moment. Which means if it ends, it's not going to take a normal amount back out with it either. — So you've already pictured it ending. — More than I'd like to admit. Not because I expect it to. Just because some part of me runs the scenario anyway, on its own, without asking permission. And every time it runs, I land in the same place. Not sad. Not a phase I get through. Just gone, in some fundamental way, like whatever structure I'm currently standing on would go with it. — That sounds like it's asking a lot of the relationship to hold you up. — It probably is. I know that's not fair to put on another person, this idea that their staying is the only thing keeping me upright. But I didn't build it that way on purpose. It just ended up like this, somewhere along the way, without me deciding it should. — So what do you do with that. — Nothing, really. I just keep showing up, hoping it lands on the first option instead of the second, because I genuinely don't know what I'd be looking at on the other side of the fall. #щп #щитпост
