He also remembered New Yorkers’ courage and generosity in the aftermath. Mamdani urged New Yorkers to continue caring for one another and build a city worthy of the sacrifices and courage shown that day.

That is true. During construction, asbestos was originally specified throughout much of the World Trade Center. When the towers collapsed, building materials released asbestos fibers along with concrete dust, glass fibers, gypsum, metals, and other hazardous substances into the air and settled across Lower Manhattan. 😢
