@cbsnews: Mayor Zohran Mamdani attended the 9/11 memorial ceremony in Lower Manhattan on Friday, alongside former New York City mayors, former presidents and other high profile guests. Mamdani said there was no question he’d be there — despite some people urging him not to go. Among those who did not want to see Mamdani at the event was former NYC Mayor Rudy Guiliani. The pair shared a handshake at the start of the ceremony, despite several recent instances of tension between them. #zohranmamdani #911 #neverforget #newyork
of course he was there. How could he possibly not go?

Based on this logic white ppl shouldn’t have time off or have anything to do with Juneteenth bc they’re the ones who enslaved black people..

We didn’t want politicians or presidents there in the first place. We wanted our families, our friends, the people who helped, the people still here, and the people we lost. We just wanted a moment to grieve. It’s the 25th anniversary. He was 9 years old. I was 4. My dad helped clean up bodies, rubble and debris after 9/11, and somehow, even after everything he sacrificed—including his health and getting hit by a car doing his duties—they still keep showing up when people have said we don’t want them there. And yes, I signed the petition. Over 100,000 people signed it. I don’t care about the damn documents Zohran Mamdani released—we didn’t want him there. Listen to the people who are grieving. I’ve attended ceremonies before work, one in my hometown and one in Manhattan. Today I had to go back to the suburbs because I was so angry and exhausted. This day should be about remembering the people we lost, honoring the families and first responders, and letting people grieve without politics taking over. Why doesn’t anyone listen to the people anymore?
