The flight was piloted by John Ogonowski, a veteran airline pilot, with former Navy fighter pilot Tom McGuinness serving as co-pilot. The Boeing 767 departed at 7:40 a.m. on a clear and calm morning. Approximately 13 minutes after takeoff, air traffic controllers lost contact with the cockpit after five hijackers seized control of the aircraft, attacking members of the crew and passengers. Calls from those aboard revealed the terror unfolding inside the plane as it changed course and descended rapidly toward New York City. they were filming a documentary about a rookie firefighter rising through the ranks throughout the summer of 01 and into the fall. on 9/11 they were responding to a gas leak and jules (the more in experienced camera man of the 2 brothers filming the documentary) went with the crew on this call (though the rookie was not there) but it was more of practice. when they were filming they hear the plane which were not all still are not common in Manhattan. after the attacks the documentary focus was switched to 9/11 from the perspective from the fire house and later released in 2002. It is still too this day probably the best documentary about the 9/11 attacks.
