Hi Brandon! Should I talk about my B in Freshman year? My teacher didn’t grade my essay as part of our finals so I got a 0. For reference the class average was greater than a 95 percent.

Brandon, is it wise to mention a gambling problem that I had to explain a year of bad grades but improved a lot the years after?

is it valid to add if i struggled with mental health + ocd related issues if im undiagnosed? cuz 1. they wouldnt want to be a liability and 2. i feel like everybody else’s reasons are more ‘legit’ than mine

i had c's in 2-3 subjects throughout my freshman sophomore year due to moving three times within one school year because of tumultuous households, being in more extracurriculars than i could handle , and struggling with my mental health. junior year i ended with almost all a's and 1 89 (though i had a 70 in first semester english because i moved from dual enrollment english to regular english, but i retained my dual enrollment history and got a 100 ) . how could i word this without making it woe is me ?

I feel like it dosnt explain it well enough but I ran out of space :( (My high school education has had a lot of disruptions. I moved countries and attended five different schools, forcing me to adjust to new grading systems, graduation requirements, and ways of earning credit. Some courses I had already completed were not recognized for credit. I also faced accessibility issues because of a physical disability that affects my ability to write by hand. In U.S. History, Physics, Chemistry, Spanish, Geometry, and Biology, I struggled to receive alternatives to handwritten assignments, and some of my work was not graded. My family and I repeatedly met with administrators trying to resolve these issues. These courses include several of my lowest grades, while many of my other courses remained in the 90s. My Geometry teacher was also diagnosed with brain cancer and left during the second month of school. At the same time, ongoing health issues, mental health struggles, and instability at home made attending and functioning at school increasingly difficult. By junior year, things had become severe enough that I could no longer consistently function in a traditional school environment, so I switched to independent homeschooling. When I returned to public school for senior year, I had completed my required coursework, but because my homeschool was independent and not accredited, the courses could not transfer as formal credits. Instead of retaking them, I was given options such as credit-by-exam and approved online coursework to formally earn the credits needed for graduation. I am continuing this process while completing my senior-year coursework.)

would it be okay to include that i received a major surgery towards the end of my junior year and even though i was in the medical leave program doing my work at home with a teacher my actual teachers at school wouldn't input any of my scores and by the time i was able to come back to school it was already finals

How can I explain that I knew a close relative died seconds before taking my honors physics final exam last year and the grief made me bomb the test even tho it was very easy and it dropped my grade from a 98 to a 83 and my teacher had lost a lot of respect and expectations from me going into the second semester where I got a 95 overall in the class, so I know I could’ve got an A the first semester, and to be specific a high one

is there a way to explain a lack of ecs? for reference my school is a commuter school as well as multi session so teachers and students all end at different times which is causing the already little amount of clubs/teams we had to get cut

What if I didn’t have actual reason like that outside of my control? Once procrastination started in sophomore year, it became extremely hard to get out of the cycle. It was just a bad metal state, nothing else in my life caused it, except missing the first two weeks of school due to sickness which launched all the problems

Does 3 Bs in science courses when I’m applying as a bio major to t20 schools need something like this? Is it beneficial to include something like this?

I got B’s in both semesters of my AP Bio class, but it’s the only thing besides A’s i’ve ever gotten. Should I include it in this prompt, or just not answer it?
