Real question which I can not believe I actually have to ask: *how* do I breathe while keeping that low core engaged? I… I can’t breathe while those muscles are engaged 😵‍💫

This type of movement was the beginning of life changing relief of SI joint pain. My PT said to lead with my knees. It helped soooooo much

So off topic, but I have that same cat scratcher placed at the exact same stop-making-the-couch-look-sad-and-ugly spot 🤣🤣

I’ve been trying to do this, and I am able to engage my deep core, but no matter what i try, my neck muscles always turn on, and end up hurting, especially with the breathing while core is engaged. I know the logistics of it all but it seems impossible for my body and I feel so defeated

Hey! I just want to say thank you so so much for sharing this helpful info for free and with such detailed and clear instructions 💕 I’m just wondering, do you have any tips for hands/wrists/fingers?? I’m a tattoo artist and put a lot of stress on my hands because of this (combined with vibrations from the machine) and have been dealing with pain and aches more and more often in my hands and wrists that shoots up my arms. My hands are essentially my livelihood, so I want to make sure to take care of them!! Thank you again for all you do 🥰

annnndddd it turns out I've possibly never engaged my deep core. when I try to lift my leg my entire hips roll. does obesity impact this ability? I can't lift at all without rolling off opposite hip. not diagnosed hyper mobile but am diagnosed autistic.

My brain can’t tighten how you’re telling me to tighten. My belly either goes up or I crunch. Literally don’t have and lower muscle activity at all

For all those struggling to breathe whilst holding their core - I am hypermobile but don’t have HEDS and was in ballet since the age of 6. They taught us how to engage core muscles very young and i never knew how helpful it would be for me. I also struggled with breathing whilst engage the core. What helped me was learning how to breathe in the different ways ( first noticing how i breathe normally and what parts of my body move, then trying to breathe whilst only moving my belly, then whilst only moving my chest), once you are able to isolate breathing to only being a chest movement you can engage your core and hold it and then think about breathing just with you chest. It takes some practice as you need to learn the coordination but it can be done!

This video was extremely helpful! I have such a hard time figuring out what is deep color engagement and what is other muscle compensation. I would love more of these videos on the protocol

I have his book but it went way over my head, epecially since I have horrible proprioception. I've done PT before but it's so expensive. this resource, and all the helpful tips in the comments, might just be life changing for me

I think this is great. Ultimately why Muldowney wasn't sufficient for me was because I needed someone who could help me understand how my hip labrum tear, pelvic floor hypertonicity, TOS, fascial tension, tongue posture, chronic guarding, pain, dysautonomia and flaring all play into this and made it harder for pelvic neutral and shoulder stacking to start feeling more natural while breathing (and my diaphragm finally really moving). And this was after I'd already made a lot of progress with MCAS and POTS interventions, so I've been connecting the dots on how those were interacting with everything (and still are to a much lesser degree). And to help me understand some expected discomforts like slightly increases pelvic pressure, urgency, burping, as my body was adjusting to new levels of eccentric lengthening and diaphragm movement. But a lot of the exercises I am doing now are quite similar to Muldowney so I can understand how it could work well if I'd also understood all of that at the time I started trying it - the PTs I tried it with just didn't know or weren't explaining all of that to me. PT I'm working with now is, and though we're not doing things exactly through how Muldowney lays it out, it's not too fundamentally different from order/strategy Muldowney takes. I could see how a PT understanding and able to explain these things could administer Muldowney more successfully than the people I tried it with. Gosh but a lot of your videos have been really helpful too, like helping normalize all the stuff so I don't have to feel crazy about how much it helps to be doing some "weird" stuff like rolling my eyes, literally moving the bones in my face, fascial releases in my face, neck, obternus internus (and realizing what the obternus internus flaring sensation even was, because I associated it with so many different things I didn't realize it was its own thing requiring its own maintenance -- but actually really able to calm down over a week or two being careful around it and frequently using a pelvic wand). What's wild is most of it is stuff I've done to my body at one point or another mostly intuitively (or sometimes as a stim!), I just didn't have a name
