@toryhalpin: Only when you can *truly* wrap your head around this concept can you really appreciate independent play and not feeling like you need to rely on screens to get things done!!!
this still isn't very helpful info. I'm perfectly aware that I don't exist to entertain my kids and my kids do play great together or independently...just not usually when I have to start dinner or get some chores done. Kids actually do need help finding things to do and won't play on their own on demand and that is perfectly normal for that age. I think what parents need to hear is that sometimes parenting is just hard and your kids are going to be difficult and it sucks and there's not anything you can do about it some days.

Rebecca Trotter :
I struggle during the 4-6PM “witching hour”. We have a 2.5 year old and a newborn. My husband gets home from work just after 5PM. Usually during this time I am trying to get dinner started, feed the baby, etc. My toddler is getting hungry and wants my attention and if he isn’t busy with an activity, it’s chaos. He is usually less willing to independent play at this time and gets disregulated easily. Would love some tips!

My kid who gets screen time does all those things in a day also....screen free parents need to show me actual strategies. Not the stuff I already do with them on top of the screen time
