Downside: is very hard to communicate what we are thinking because as is non linear we try to explain all the ramifications and the reasons behind. Is like thinking in 3D and explaining a tree.

Systems thinking has a serious flaw! It cannot predict the way humans respond emotionally! - That renders it no better than linear thinking. We see this regularly especially with election polls and financial markets. No-one can predict the emotional group mind because by definition it is not rationally based!

Double edged sword - the neurodiversity that allows me to think this way also makes it nearly impossible for me to communicate this in a way that doesn’t make colleagues hate me for throwing spanners into the works and slowing down their enthusiasm about ideas that will never work. Especially when I’ve been dismissed as a negative Nelly & then what I’ve said will go wrong actually goes wrong.

To all the system thinkers who have been invalidated, told you need to communicate better or read the room ... you are not the problem, you are not a know-it-all, you are surrounded by people who truly don't want their problem solved and if they do- they don't want it to be you for whatever reason they have in their mind. I believe we've been so invalidated that we are able to communicate things in such a clear way because we are aware not everyone can think like this- it's just that we encounter people with extremely low self esteem and they HATE that we see problems and give solutions at the same time!

Unfortunately, the people who think this way tend to have autism and/or ADHD and neurotypicals hate us. (Like there is legitimately research on this). And they let that social “ick” prevent them from listening to us.

This does NOT get rewarded in the workplace. We get taken advantage of, over worked and underpaid. Thanked, but with no tangible reward… and it’s a fine line before they start perceiving you as a threat to their authority and the start calling you difficult, not a team player…
