my dad once pulled my sister out of the car and dislocated her arm in the process, slammed a door into my head while drunk during a black out and almost sent me down the stairs, used to blame his alcoholism on me and my sister, he'd tell me any problem I had was nothing next to his own, that me suffering merely made him mad, that he should be complaining, not me, I wasn't allowed inside the house from 7am to 5pm in a small town that had nothing to do and heats often up to 30-40 degrees at times, he'd throw things, have screaming matches with my mother every night, he'd threaten to hit me, his fist inches from my face after his dog got out, he made the word "be a child" a trigger, because it meant he was trying to prove a point, I was forced to grow up far too quickly, I was responsible for finding my sister whenever she wasn't home, for completing any job he had, expected to be perfect, the of I took too long to think of something, grabbed the wrong item, sounded displeased I was in trouble, screamed at, called slurs, I was told I'd be nothing in life, unless I followed his path, he'd give me just enough attention, love and he'd buy expensive things just to make me feel too guilty to hate him, he'd expect me to love him as a parent despite anything, I was terrified of the sound of his car coming into the drive way, I still get unnerved by certain engine sounds coming down my street, the house would smell of alcohol, rows of cans would line the counter and be passed out on the couch
