Do you recognize this music? If you love horses, the Immenhof films probably hit a soft spot. 🎥 These German classics from the 1950s sparked more than nostalgia, they triggered a real boom across the country. Especially among kids and teens, riding became a dream of many and the love for these horses took off. And that’s where the story of the Icelandic horse in Germany really began. 🇩🇪 At the time, Icelandic horses were still mostly unknown in Germany but their size, great character, and strength made them the perfect match for a new generation of young riders inspired by Immenhof. In 1958, the IPZV (Islandpferde-Reiter- und Züchterverband) was founded, originally as a ‘pony club’, because of this sudden interest in smaller horse breeds. As the fascination about Icelandic horses grew, the club evolved into what is now the world’s largest association for Icelandic horses. Fast forward: IPZV Nord (a regional club), founded in 1975, just celebrated its 50th anniversary, and did so in the most iconic way possible: right back at Immenhof, where the Immenhof movies were filmed. From tölt and breeding shows to kids’ lessons and carriage rides, it was a true celebration of the Icelandic horse and its community. Huge thank you to @ipzv.nord for letting us be part of this beautiful event. And thank you to @eyja.live for capturing these beautiful moments! 🙌🏼 If you haven’t seen the Immenhof movies yet, you should. #horsesoficeland #Immenhof #IPZV #IPZVNord #icelandichorses #islandpferd #mädelsvomimmenhof
