On August 26, 2022, she was leaving her driveway when a gunman opened fire from a vehicle. She was shot five times and later died. But here’s where this case takes a turn. Investigators eventually arrested her estranged husband, Ahmet Duzguner, a former police officer from Turkey. Prosecutors allege that he ARRANGED for his wife to be killed. And during the trial, a witness testified that Sibel had expressed fears she would be killed before the shooting. The prosecution says surveillance footage, recordings, witness testimony and evidence about the deteriorating marriage establish his responsibility. BUT THE DEFENSE SAYS THERE IS NO DIRECT EVIDENCE LINKING HIM TO THE MURDER. No confession. No direct proof that he arranged the shooting, according to his attorney. And that brings us to the question I think makes this case so fascinating: ⚖️ HOW MUCH CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE IS ENOUGH TO CONVICT SOMEONE OF MURDER? The trial has concluded.
