@kareemahemordi: Some wives do not have a problem with their husband’s leadership. They have a problem with his leadership producing an answer they do not like. As long as his decisions agree with hers, she calls him wise. As long as his direction matches her preference, she calls him a leader. As long as his answer is yes, she feels heard. Then comes the no. Now she needs another conversation. Then another explanation. Then another opportunity to present her case. She changes her tone. Withdraws affection. Becomes cold. Keeps revisiting the subject. And if he still does not change his mind, she says, “You never listen to me.” Sis, listening and agreeing are not the same thing. Your husband can hear every word you said and still disagree with you. He can value your intelligence without surrendering his judgment to it. He can consider your concerns without allowing your concerns to become the final decision. And this is where submission stops being something cute you put in your bio and becomes something that costs you. Can you hear no and remain respectful? Can you disagree without punishing him? Can you express your perspective without campaigning until he gives in? Can you trust God’s order when the outcome is not the one you would have chosen? Because if your husband has to agree with you in order to have peace with you, that is not submission.
