@employment_with_amy: FYI - absue of these may lead to disciplinary action. This post is just to illustrate the requirements of notice. Or lack of in this case. *No legal statutory right to time off for medical appointments. This applies to most medical appointments. Some exceptions include disability related appointments, pregnancy/ maternity/ other statutory leave appointments. Just because you don't have to give evidence, doesn't mean you shouldn't. Failure to provide evidence may render an employers investigation of honesty, limited. They may make a decision of misconduct based on the information they have available. #hr #humanresources #employmentlaw *Not legal advice. Not exhaustive.

here's a life hack. It's 7 days sick without a doctor's note, unless you have your first day as a Monday. When you go sick on the Monday you've already had the Saturday and Sunday then your first day sick is Monday giving you a grand total of 9 days. Never go sick for a week unless it is a Monday 😜

I am a disabled worker and before the work policy was updated I would get flagged for too many sick days for medical appointments (I was told by HR to use sick days for medical appointments). In April the sick policy was updated so that doctors appointments for all workers were classed as full pay sick days. The company policy for sick days is after working for 2 years at the company you get full sick pay.

What about carers leave? My sister from another mister is needs an operation on her foot, neither her or her kids are really my dependents, but I'm not leaving her to cope on her own.

My boss has just sacked me for taking unpaid dependant leave to care for my partner with stage 4 cancer. He agreed to the 3 month leave in a face to face meeting then sacked me 4 days later.
