@blackandpinknational: No one should have to prove their humanity from inside a cage. At Black & Pink National, our work has always been rooted in challenging systems that disappear people behind walls, strip away their choices, and treat incarceration as the default answer. That is why this ruling matters to us. The Fourth Circuit became the ninth federal appeals court to reject the administration’s expanded mandatory immigration detention policy, protecting access to bond hearings for people who otherwise could have been locked up without the opportunity to ask for release. A hearing does not guarantee freedom. It guarantees something much more basic: the right to be heard before the government takes your freedom away. Whether the cage is called a jail, a prison, or an immigration detention center, we reject systems that treat people as disposable. LGBTQIA+ people, Black and Brown people, immigrants, and everyone targeted by systems of incarceration deserve dignity, due process, and the chance to return home to their communities. The right to a hearing won again. We celebrate that victory while continuing to fight for something bigger: a world where cages are no longer treated as the answer. #blackandpink #abolition #nocages
