Ancient Greece, the Macedonian kingdom, the Hellenistic period, Roman times, Byzantium, Ottoman rule, the Revolution of 1821 and then modern Greece. And Greek people weren’t only living inside the borders of modern Greece either, there were Greek communities all over the Aegean, Asia Minor, Pontus, Constantinople, Cyprus, the Black Sea and so many other places. And obviously every period was different, but the language, traditions and identity kept being passed down. Byzantium especially gets forgotten when people talk about Greek history even though Constantinople was literally the centre of the Eastern Roman Empire for centuries. Then after centuries of Ottoman rule, the Greek Revolution started in 1821 and eventually Greece became an independent state and honestly I think thats what makes greek history so interesting, it isn’t just “Ancient Greece” like people always make it seem its thousands of years of different people places, wars empires migrations and traditions all connected to each other 🇬🇷 #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #targetaudience #mediterranean #Greece #edit
