There’s some new info that came out about that juror- he apparently has an open dv case- and some of his family has added some insight as well- according to the local news

my Latinx friend immediately mentioned that their entire family is completely dismissive of ‘mental health issues’… and says many different demographics at least above a certain age, think it’s white people nonsense. and anecdotally, that makes sense to me. part of the loud discourse on this trial the last few weeks has been that aspect of the issue.

When I first saw the Gale interview that was my first thought as well. Then I just saw that NBC Boston has some new reporting that there were some DV charges in his past, which if true its honestly shocking that he made it through voir dire. So in this case it seems like there might be a deep resentment towards women, or maybe wives, in general?

I think there’s something more going on with him in terms of like idk how to articulate it but the other jurors said that he put one of the exercise bands around a water bottle and pulled it tight for a few seconds and like everyone was stunned (the jurors in the room and the interviewer) and like he seemingly did not understand that that is not a socially acceptable thing to do or like a necessary thing to do that would help provide any relevant insight considering the case and justice system so like I just say that to be like idk maybe we’re assuming he’s reasoning is more grounded in some shared type of rationality than it actually is like that’s such an odd and inappropriate thing for anyone to do especially the hold out juror who refused to agree not guilty like there’s a lot of implications of that being your verdict if you did that and there’s a a lot of implications of the person you are if you think that’s appropriate to do like I feel like it might have less to do with race and more with like personal oddities ?

Also I just thought this might be why the judge didn’t want to dismiss him because he was the only poc on the jury and maybe he was afraid of the optics of replacing the only poc?

My confusion is around the jury descriptions from the press in the court room. I remember someone describing him as emotional when Lindsey would cry, that he seemed sympathetic toward her. I thought they also said the black man was a little older than “30 yrs old”. I thought the hold out would be the younger white male- the target of the manosphere. Anyhoo, I needed a moment too just like Gayle did!

I think there are a few factors that may be at play. There are people who have experienced systemic oppression and instead of turning against the system they will turn against individuals that they perceive make up that system. Another thing is, facing one type of oppression doesn't necessarily mean you will understand or sympathize with all types of opression. He may face racism and be completely against it while still not caring about mental health issues or misogyny because those aren't things he has personally dealt with.

Apparently he floated the idea of removing himself from the jury to the other jurors during deliberations which I find like so odd & confusing like I do not understand anything I’ve heard about him

I honestly think that some people just don’t think. I had an epiphany with my best friend 20 odd years ago about a thought process I assumed she had taken and decided to choose a route. She absolutely did not have the same process as me. You have seemed to me to be similar to me- you process all aspects. It’s not common you know. Keep thinking for everyone 🥰
