There was a recent 9/11 doc this year and it was a news anchor who didnt realize how many people in her apartment building worked at WTC until days later you could hear dogs barking everywhere in the building because their owner never made it home.

My dad lost 98% of his coworkers. He happened to take the late train that day. My grandpa also managed to be late that day. He lived through the first bombing in 93 and again 9/11. He made the decision to retire that day and never go back.

My mom was pregnant with me and I recently found out that babies that were in utero during 9/11 have a lot of random health issues due to the stress of the moms and how scared they were😭 that is so sad to me

It was crazy. My dad was flying that day (he’s fine) but I remember my homeroom teacher asking out of the blue first thing in the morning if anyone had a parent flying on an airplane that day. I raised my hand. I will never forget the look on her face— she didn’t know if this child still had a dad or not. Now as an adult I know the horrendous pit in her stomach when she saw a little hand go up.

I just had to tell my mom that all my knowledge about 9/11 came from the internet because schools assumed I was old enough to remember at 4 years old but I in fact was not.

I was 22 and a hotel maid. the chaos and fear was real. also the constant replay of the people who jumped broke my heart. there was a woman who tried to hold her skirt down while falling to keep her dignity. it caused so much trauma in all of of us who experienced it.

Everytime I meet someone older I always asks where they were on 9/11. I’ve heard some crazy stories from prisoners, farmers, military. It’s crazy everyone has a story even if they weren’t there.

The fact that anybody was ever joking about this is so gross man like I was a child myself when it happened in second grade I believe I never once in my life thought to make a joke about that day.

The Sikh taxi drivers immediately coordinated to turn off their meters and act as free car service to get as many people out as possible… The Canadian town who took our random flights… There are SO many beautiful stories.

Another Fact that doesn’t get talked about enough: That all religions made it so none of the jumpers were considered sewerslides so they could be buried in their respective cemeteries and have all burial rights. 😭😭😭😭

For years, the families of immigrants didn’t know what happened to their family members bc those workers weren’t included in the names of the dead

no what killed me for weeks after is that they played all of the passengers voicemails to their families. they had a special segment on the news every night and they'd play a few everyday as they were submitted by the families.
hearing them comforting their families knowing they were about to die still completely messes me up. It was horrible but I felt like I owed them to hear each one. so I listened. every. single. night. for. months.

I just learned about a small town named Gander in Canada that had approx 40 planes diverted to them and the whole community came together to house and feed 7000 passengers while there was a no fly order.
