Lanterns Writers Are Exploring Season 2—but HBO Has Yet to Confirm Its Return Spoilers ahead for the Lanterns season 1 finale. John Stewart has claimed a new responsibility. Whether viewers will see him carry it into another season remains an open question. According to the report, HBO has not officially renewed Lanterns. But co-creator Damon Lindelof confirmed that writers are developing ideas for season 2, without his involvement. The finale leaves several paths open. John decides to protect Earth as its Green Lantern, telling Guy Gardner to handle other planets nearby. Showrunner Chris Mundy described John’s position as both powerful and uncertain, since his relationship with the Guardians remains complicated. John also chooses to spare Noah, a human-Manhunter hybrid, while promising to watch him closely. Then comes the farewell to Hal Jordan. Recharging Hal’s ring erases the holographic version of him that has accompanied John. After their final exchange, John charges it and recites an oath reflecting his own beliefs. Could Hal still return? Sinestro claims he could restore him, but that possibility remains unconfirmed. Lindelof indicated that the creators intended Hal’s d*eath to carry lasting weight, rather than setting up a reversal. Mundy said any continuation would likely retain the show’s grounded feel, even though season 1 proved it could venture beyond Earth. For now, story development is moving ahead without a confirmed renewal. John’s next chapter has possibilities—but a second season is still awaiting HBO’s decision. Would you want season 2 to stay focused on Earth or explore more of the cosmos? #Lanterns #GreenLantern #JohnStewart #HalJordan #DCUniverse

Karoline Leavitt’s last day as White House Press Secretary is today. She is leaving to spend more time with her very young children and very old husband. In fairness, her husband isn’t that old, but their 32-year age difference (which far bests that of her boss and third wife, if not quite her boss and his current work wife…) is one of those weird MAGA tidbits that add a little flair to bitchy columns like this one. Leavitt is MAGA’s Tracy Flick, the peppy, straight-A student with boundless ambition and sharpened incisors. Her tenure will be remembered primarily for her singular devotion to the world’s worst human, sure, but the thing I will always think of first when I think of Karoline Leavitt – and I do not plan on thinking of her again after I finish writing this piece – is The Necklace. That big gold cross dangling at her sternum perfectly encapsulated the administration’s “do as I say, not as I do” attitude. She was wearing The Necklace, for example, when she called The Hill reporter Niall Stanage “a left wing hack posing as a journalist” from the White House podium after he asked her why Renee Good was killed. One might puzzle at the hypocrisy but Leavitt understood something that too much of the “mainstream media” failed to grasp: that the aesthetics of MAGA have always been far more important than the policies. Leavitt knew that, in Trump’s America, the medium is more than the message. In Trump’s America, there is no message at all. There is only media.
