Why even go through an agency instead of just dealing with the insurance directly? Is it cheaper?

It can be for anything. I wrote a policy one time I missed the check box to add rental reimbursement. The client had a wreck a few weeks later. Our agency ended up paying for the rental, rather than file an E&O claim. But they could have because I missed a checkbox.

Its also not just for agents, it’s for insureds too. In commercial lines underwriting there are 4 main E&O coverages we provide. We have Contractors, Manufacturing, Human Services, and Designated Professional.

So if the agent in this case alleges that they did in fact add the business use endorsement they would have proof that it was submitted as they say it was. Assuming it would be digitally submitted, they should have easily traceable digital proof with timestamps. If they’re not forthcoming with such proof, I call bullshit.

I’m sure they don’t want to make a claim because then their E&O premium would go up.

I have to rewatch this. Because I didn’t hear anything you said after describing your dog’s actions. Spent the rest of the video imagining the dog behind you, and giggling.

I like to tell people it's in a similar vein to what malpractice insurance would be like for a doctor or lawyer. It's very rare it comes up based on the type of claims I handle, but when it does it's super important. (I handle rideshare claims, and when they mention they had the appropriate endorsement but not on the policy).
