In high school they showed the people jumping from the towers and I had to leave the room and throw up and then i had my dad come get me. So the boatlift is a great alternative

Fellow 4/5 grade teacher, the kids really care and the most heartbreaking part is that they can’t understand why people or terrorist would intentionally hurt this many innocent humans. It shows me how big kids heart truly are. I’m going to show them this video Monday, thank you❤️

My daughter’s 2nd grade class did this too! Love it! My local mom group is saying kids shouldn’t care because they weren’t alive when it happened.. boils my blood!

Wish they showed us that when i was in school instead of having to watch people jumping from the building. I never understood why teachers felt that was okay to show kids

I teach high school English and found poems written around the events of 9/11 to show different perspectives with my honors freshmen and we analyzed them together🤍🤍

My social studies teacher literally showed one google slide for 15 minutes then went on about the transcontinental railroad. I’m so disappointed.

There’s also a picture book called the survivor tree that’s really cute that we used to read when I was in elementary school and I live on Staten Island. It’s about a tree that they found alive under all of the rubble. They rescued the tree and brought it somewhere to be rehabilitated and replanted it at the memorial site 10 years later. It’s a really cute book about hope and resilience.

I’m a mom of 3 kids every year I teach my kids the importance of remembering 9/11. I was 10 at the time watching it live and after all these years my heart still breaks 🥺. I learn every year about more hero’s that day.

THIS IS AMAZING, it is so important to let these kids learn to be in touch with the empathy, bravery, kindness and courage that so so many people exemplified that day. it teaches our kids to be proud of their country while being aware that things are progressive and that things are forever changing❤️
