The helicopter in the screenshot is registration RA-25659. I checked the registration rather than relying on the TikTok caption. Aircraft: Mil Mi-8MTV-1 (Russian-made helicopter) Construction/serial number: 93219 Registration: RA-25659 Country of registration: Russia Aviation records show it has been associated with Orman Genel Müdürlüğü (Turkey’s General Directorate of Forestry), and photographs place it in Turkey. A current Russian rotorcraft register also lists RA-25659 / Mi-8MTV-1 / 93219. So, importantly, I cannot substantiate the claim that this helicopter belongs to a Nigerian individual or Nigerian businessman. The viral Nigerian social-media posts appear to be misleading: fact-checkers have found that the footage is not evidence of a helicopter operating in Nigeria.
