The photo of him being carried away has been called “an American Pietà”, which refers to depictions of Mary cradling Jesus’s body after he was taken down from the cross. He was simply one of a kind and I’m so happy you’re giving him his flowers. The Church needs more Mychal Judges.

He was a friend to our family. He married my parents and baptized my sister. He counseled my mother when she converted to Catholicism to marry my father. One of only times I ever remember my father crying was when my grandmother called on 9/11 to say he had passed.
