@mardonpictures: Phantom Thread is a film that has stuck with me ever since I first graced my eyes with its beautiful and delicate imagery. Paul Thomas Anderson’s film has no credited Director of Photography, yet it is still one of the most visually striking films I’ve ever seen. There are frames in this film that genuinely take your breath away. Much like Reynolds Woodcock himself, the film’s framing and editing feel meticulously constructed, with every moment carefully considered to serve the emotion, story or dynamics between its characters. It has some of my favourite frames of any film, and I absolutely love the way the Kodak film stocks render its textures, colours and light. And, of course, Jonny Greenwood’s score feels like something from a dreamscape. Phantom Thread has had a huge influence on the way I look at cinema, photography and my own work.
