I saw this video of this lady getting an abortion because her kid had this rare thing that would have made the child live for like 15 hours in pain. and I thought "she is more of a mother than these comments, she took her childs pain and made it her own"

I was working in a nursery, and we had a child who had a rare degenerative disease. He was 3 years old, needed 1-1, couldn't walk, talk, smile, eat by himself, he was blind, and could only cry tears out of one eye. We had to suction fluid off his lungs 3 times a day and insert a feeding tube with a nurse who came in to help feed and suction. Kids were kind l, but would obviously just be running around him as he lay on the floor. He had an older sister who was always sad and stressed, and didn't get any attention from her parents - who were always sad, stressed and arguing. They knew he would have this at 8 weeks pregnant, and chose to keep him anyway. He died at 5 years old after a short life of pain. Parents were cruel and immoral in my opinion.

Yes because bringing a child into this world knowing that they will suffer is so selfish

i agree with this but for different reasons, i think abortion should be allowed regardless of the circumstances

taking your own kids pain and turning it into your own is the best thing a mother can do

Especially if they already have children. Lot of kids with disabled siblings grow up neglected

something special about a mother who loves her children so much she is willing to lose them to ensure they have the best life from start to end. those are good mothers.

I would rather abort a child I cannot take care of than let it suffer in the world most likely in foster care or something because again, I wouldn’t be able to take care of it.
it is valid bruh, no one wants to be born disabled. those people who KNOW their kid would be disabled and still let the kid born are selfish.

i don't want kids from my own body because i don't want them to be autistic like me 🤷 even if there's a chance of it not happening, i find it difficult enough already to manage MY autism, i don't think I'd be able to manage both mine and my child's if they end up with it too. it's better for me to acknowledge that and accept that I'd be a shitty parent and not have a kid, even if i want one.

@Conor O'Donovan: I’m 25 with cp a wheelchair user I’ve graduated with a screenwriting degree lived with carers and my friends have visited a bunch of countries music and film festivals programmed films been on charity youth boards born 13 weeks early doctors said I would never read write speak work I can’t walk and need help washing dressing etc finding work my own place and making a family is pretty hard but they are for everyone right now. Has it been easy for my parents no but I hope my own success and love makes it a little easier for them in their later years. Shit like this pisses me off and is a slippery slope towards eugenics anyone who believes this stay away from me to any Disabled people reading this embrace the joy and struggle of being alive if only for yourself and those who come after you it’s not our job to inspire or educate it’s our job to help give the human condition it’s full hearing we will have homes jobs families holidays parties travel and stories of our own may we all get better together.

people got so conditioned to being used with the bare minimum of the ideal domestic life that i like to think there is barely any difference between us and the people before who are also in survival mode in the forests. i dont know how to explain it now dont remind me to come back

I agree to this actually, letting the child not endure humiliation and mockery because of his/her disability isn't better than killing him. Though it is also sad to know that a life couldn't live to its fullest due to our actions.

I never get anyone who disagrees of this. Knowing your child will be born disabled or with some horrible genetic disorder and still having them will just only make them life a life of either constant humiliation, pain, loneliness, or complete dependency. Mothers who have aborted their babies for this reason know what they would've had to live with. A mother's love is strong as well, so no doubt most will grieve. Most parents would rather have their child live a happy and healthy life rather than living miserably, and that's completely valid.

Fighting ableism means helping disabled people through their struggles, not creating more disabled people to struggle. An embryo isnt a person yet

I have a genetic disorder that if I have a boy, he would be deformed or dead at birth. A girl would have what I have and I’m miserable being under 5 ft with weird short arms. I’m planning on adopting.
