Sigh, that is the wrong decade. That is the marine layer as someone else pointed out. The population was too small and there were not huge plants. 20 years later was a different story. Show some pics of LA in the 70’s of some actual smog. I was there and I remember.

EXACTLY! My cousin once asked when she was young, what’s that? They were the mountains! The wind had blown the smog out of the way that day.

I grew up with smoggy Los Angeles skies in the 1960’s and 70’s. The smog was so bad it was a running pop culture joke. I’m grateful for the years of effort that California leaders have put into getting rid of most of it so that the younger generations of Californians could grow up with clean air and healthier lungs. I despise Donald Trump for wanting to reverse those efforts. He never grew up in a city literally choking on smog.

Those photos are LA with the marine layer, way too early for smog, that was late 70’s and 80’s when the brown layer covered the city.

I've been here all of my life...in the 70s there were many days that my class spent recess indoors because the smog was so intense. and we're talking coastal orange county.

Growing up in Montebello in the 70’s-90’s there were so many days where you couldn’t see Mount Baldy or Mount Wilson. Smog alerts and no recess.

You sure that’s from California regulating or is from technology evolving to burn cleaner. Look at other states. As clear as California. Less taxes than California. Laurie is is just taking the credit of advancements in tech as their accomplishment to charge higher taxes while doing nothing.

Yes, and we older generations choked that dirty air in. A giant reason our gas prices are higher, because we choose breathable air.

We had smog days in the 60’s. We either had to stay indoors. Very infrequently, they cancelled school.

I remember early 90s vague childhood memories living off Atlantic in East LA. The sky would be this dark intense pink from the smog. You definitely don't see that anymore. Lol it's so much nicer
