@dr..alex.tatem: Gene hacking is officially real. 🧬 Researchers are already editing genes in humans to change the way the body handles cholesterol. In an early trial targeting PCSK9, a single infusion dropped LDL cholesterol by as much as 62%—and the effect was still there more than a year later. Another gene-editing treatment targeting ANGPTL3 cut LDL and triglycerides by roughly half. But this is still early-stage science. These were small Phase 1 trials, and we still don’t know if these edits will actually prevent heart attacks or stay safe over decades. The bigger question is what comes next. If we can edit genes tied to cholesterol… could we eventually target genes connected to Alzheimer’s, obesity, or muscle growth? Cyberpunk might be arriving faster than we thought. Would you let a doctor permanently edit one of your genes if it could lower your disease risk? #biohacking #CRISPR #genetics
