Jennifer Flavin, the wife of actor Sylvester Stallone, has drawn widespread backlash after suggesting that Hollywood parents raise transgender children because their homes lack structure, remarks she made during an appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast. Host Katie Miller, a former Trump administration spokesperson, asked Flavin directly why she thought so many children of celebrity parents identify as transgender, asking, “Is there something in the water in Hollywood?” Flavin, 57, replied that Hollywood culture revolves around unchecked self-expression. “I just think Hollywood is, you know, it’s all about expression,” she said. “So, you know, however you want to express yourself. If you feel like a cat today, you’re a cat. And it’s so loosey-goosey.” Flavin went on to argue that children of famous parents grow up surrounded by private planes, chefs, nannies and assistants, an environment she said leaves them without direction. “I don’t think that we’re really understanding that these kids are not our accessories,” she said. “They’re little human beings that need structure. And structure is really important for them because it helps their brain organize everything.” She added that “there’s just too much of everything” in celebrity households and that “it gets really confusing for a little person,” while maintaining that “it’s OK what you decide to be as an adult.” Flavin also described her three daughters with Stallone, Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet, as tomboys who preferred pants to dresses and loved sports, but said she never told them they were boys because of it. Her comments followed years of several celebrities publicly affirming transgender or nonbinary children, including Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron, Jamie Lee Curtis and Marlon Wayans, and came months after Rosie O’Donnell said she relocated to Ireland with her 12-year-old child, Clay. Critics online accused Flavin of promoting a theory unsupported by any data, noting there is no research indicating celebrity children are more likely than others to be transgender, while some commenters online voiced agreement that fame and excess complicate parenting. The remarks have reignited a broader, ongoing public debate over gender identity, parenting and celebrity culture. #jenniferflavin #sylvester #trans #kids
