Might come as a shocker, but console exclusive sequels don’t seem to sell that well in the modern landscape. I don’t think the DS2 underperforming compared to DS1 is particularly surprising, nor is it Kojima’s fault.

PlayStation walked away from the financial risk and burden of funding all those high end Hollywood actors cutting edge tech and cross media entertainment projects. Kojima is a walking money pit. There’s a reason Konami kicked him too, he spends tons of money on game dev, he’ll spend money on ideas and then Scratch them, but blow half a million dollars on a concept just to see it. His games sell well but they don’t turn a profit. He did two games for Sony DS2 had like a 220million dollar budget and STILL HASNT BROKE EVEN…..after the mess that was concord is anyone surprised..Microsoft will learn that lesson soon too. Kojima is a legend but he a rebel and just doesn’t care about budgets lol

Playstation has been prioritizing profits over quality now. They dont care if most of their games are live service slop, as long as it makes money they wont stop I honestly hope Xbox does the opposite and dominates the next console gen
