@alexhollings52: The U.S. Navy needs a new stealth fighter, but we’re now more than 17 months past when the F/A-XX contract award was supposed to go out. So, let’s talk about why that’s a problem. #navy #aviation #military #miltok #Tech
Calling it, F-35C and FA-XX will cost too much and they will do a Eagle II and make a F/A-18EFX Hornet II

on the note of replacing the EA-18G, is a stealth jammer practical? do the benefits on ingress & egress justify the costs?

Maybe they're assuming the F35 can hold the fort until FAXX is ready? Or perhaps drone swarms are more effective?

The US Navy has not been very successful in their development of anything on time or on budget. take the new frigate or Destroyer spending billions trillions of dollars and we have nothing to show for it at all

What’s next for the ea-18? They fly them in my neck of the woods out of Whidbey. I know they’re not even close to the 35 but they’re ridiculously impressive either way. Can’t imagine what’s next.

We’re learning a lot of stuff with the war in Ukraine and the war in Iran, so it would make sense that we would see if maybe we need to change some design now since we’re getting some real world experience again on our equipment

something I havent seen you discuss. how ai is influencing designs of new systems and reducing the rnd timeliness while pushing the limits of what physics allows simultaneously new manufacturing processes that make things cheaper but also makes new designs possible that weren't through traditional manufacturing and those realities impacts on the ramp up speed of procuring these new systems as well as the gap compared to its predecessors
