@thevagdoc: Everybody’s wondering if their perimenopause needs treatment now! Is every symptom in your late 30s and 40s because of perimenopause or are we just overall everything? This leads to a lot of perimenopause failures! #thevagdoc **** This is general education information not specific medical advice meant for any individual ©️CIB group

It’s easy to rule it out too. Because perimenopause isn’t just about the obvious symptoms, it’s also the gut, how it interacts with other systems, insulin, vascular, neurological, autonomic nervous system, etc. also a huge factor that gets overlooked is that people can’t tolerate transdermal or even vaginal/rectal deliveries because it goes through our systems too quickly. I was one of them. I thought I couldn’t tolerate estrogen at all, turns out I needed micro injections. I’ll be trying progestrone the same way hoping for some luck

is it normal for your obgyn to prescribe HRT meds based off symptoms and not bother checking blood work first? And should I see maybe an internal med provider or maybe someone in endo?

What are your thoughts on a sustained release micronized progesterone? I like taking mine, it’s calming and does help me fall asleep but by 2-3am I’m up again, alert thinking it’s morning. I’m up to 300mg but I still wake and started playing around with taking 200 at bedtime and the remaining 100 when I inevitably wake at 2am. It’s kinda helping but still my sleep is disturbed. Overall HRT has helped more than hurt as all my symptoms are resolved except the waking. I just want to sleep uninterrupted. I don’t want to give up.

Im 63 and have been on hrt for 11 months. I started to have heart irregularities and shortness of breath, I stopped hrt cold turkey and that was a huge mistake, I had a cardiac workup and my irregularities have pretty much stopped but Im going through a severe hormone crash. I was off hrt for 6 days, well the symptoms are real, panicking, nausea, shaking, weakness feeling of doom. Please please please educate women on a taper plan if they change there mind and want to stop hrt. Im very miserable trying to get through this and its very scary to withdrawal. Im back in normal dose of testosterone and half dose of the patch, and normal dose of progesterone. My taper will be very slow and it will take 11 months to be off everything. Wow what a wild ride this is to stop these. Again please educate about tapering off and not trying cold turkey like I did. Im on day 2 of reintroducing hrt back and it’s miserable, I wish someone would have told me to taper in the beginning.

I am 39 in 2 months and I convinced myself all of my issuss stemmed from perimenopause, and once I sat back....I might have 2 symptoms but I got on Lexapro, changed my diet and shelfed HRT for a while until I have more issues. Also, I am going to get the Mirena and see if that helps as well so I dont have to take Progesterone.

I have felt even worse going on progesterone and when the estrogen is slightly elevated, I feel better when it’s too much I feel god-awful. I’m scared to go off of it because I don’t want other symptoms to come back but at the same time I can’t feel like this anymore either advice?

i wish docs like you would share the statistics on the relationship between days between periods and time left until last period. we know it varies but we are big girls and are good at math. once i found this study the knowledge was very empowering https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3232023/
