We got chickens "by accident" bc father in law had a stroke and we took over. Pretty proud of how we rodent and predator secured the coop, but we will be rebuilding the coop itself (we had to panic buy one of thode assembly ones) and it was fine for now but it definately is more cutesy looking than smart. If you have like a max of 4 chicks it's probably fine. It's unescessary more work in general tho

You're talking about these birds like they're just pieces of property, but have you considered the male chicks who were ground up alive at the hatchery just so you could buy these hens? A chicken's body isn't a machine for your breakfast, and they deserve to live for their own reasons rather than being exploited for their eggs. Stop viewing sentient beings as commodities and leave them alone.
