@inhispania: One of the most useful verbs in Spanish… and one you’ll use all the time! 👇🏻 Test yourself before saying them out loud. 🟡 PRESENTE Yo → estoy Tú → estás Él / Ella → está Nosotros → estamos Vosotros → estáis Ellos / Ellas → están 🟡 PAST SIMPLE (Pretérito indefinido) Yo → estuve Tú → estuviste Él / Ella → estuvo Nosotros → estuvimos Vosotros → estuvisteis Ellos / Ellas → estuvieron 🟡 FUTURO Yo → estaré Tú → estarás Él / Ella → estará Nosotros → estaremos Vosotros → estaréis Ellos / Ellas → estarán A few things to keep in mind: “ESTAR” is irregular in the present: estoy, estás, está… But the future is completely regular: estar → estaré, estarás, estará… The past simple is where things get a little trickier. The stem changes from est- to estuv-: estuve, estuviste, estuvo… 🤔 How many did you get right? If you got them all, the verb “estar” is officially yours. estar is to be(stand form),well basically it's from the latin stare which is to stand,estar is for temporary use,it can never be permanent like identity and status,so it's used for places,time,feelings and currently doing something like estoy comiendo means I am eating while ser is to be(exist form), basically this one is from three latins,sedere which means to sit is for the name ser,esse is the main meaning which means to exist or to be and made it's conjugations like soy,eres,es,somos and son,while fui is to be in latin, that's how the fui past tense got formed,ser is used for identity and status and it's mostly permanent except for subjunctives as they start of temporary before becoming permanent
