My abusive ex would “try” not to drink for maybe a week and would go back to it and always use the excuse of “o we are having fun, let me relax” blah blah. He would always act like he was trying for a little bit to give me hope then go right back

I never knew the lack of sleep thing was so common. My ex would start a fight at bed time and say the most hurtful things to me, then fall immediately asleep while I cried for hours. I was exhausted all the time. Anyone who is going through this currently you deserve better.

I am just blown away at how similar these men are. And I’m sure we are from different areas and cultures and these men have the same characteristics. They pull the same crap. It’s like a psychological phenomenon. I’m being every single thing you post I can think of either an identical or very similar situation with my ex narc.

I would plan a trip but the day before he would say why are you not letting me rest on my vacation! Because we had to drive 3 hours. I want so much to tell him, you don’t have to go, but then that would start 3 hours of endless conversation about how why I don’t want him to go, I have someone else, etc.
